Dances That Have Become World Sensations

If you were asked to name at least one world-famous cultural phenomenon, you will probably first remember the dances or exceptional steps that have become Internet sensations. Over the last decade, it is not just one or two strange dances that have spread like viruses on social media. Which of them received the most views and attention?

The Dougie

Although this dance became popular a good decade ago, in some nightclubs you can still see performances based on this dance. The Dougie became a phenomenon on the dance floor after the release of the Cali Swag District song “Teach Me How To Dougie” and the release of the video. The catchy rhythms of the hit became a necessity of all parties, as did the special dance, which is sung in the piece. Famous people, including Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian and even Michelle Obama, did not resist this mania.

Gangman Style

In 2012, the whole world went crazy and danced like rapper Psy in the video of his song Gangnam Style. Dance movements were similar as riding a horse, as a result, the dance conquered the internet and broke all records of views at the time – the video became the most watched very soon. Now, it has more than 3.5 billion views and has fallen to seventh place (the leader of this list is the Baby Shark Dance with more than 7 billion views). A fast rhythm and fun or embarrassing, depending on who you ask, dance moves are no longer so popular today as they were a few years ago. But in those rare cases where you dare to turn on a Psy track, everyone starts moving again in this way and the age does not matter here.

Whip/Nae Nae

From the first moment, it seems that these dance steps is super easy to master, but only a few people are able to perform them accurately. Do not believe in it? Try to dance like that and keep the same rhythm. Whip / Nae Nae dance became the most popular phenomenon on the internet in 2015. It happened after the presentation of the video clip of the song Watch Me performed by Silent.

Dab

Almost at the same time, another dance from a video were competing with Whip / Nae Nae for the title of the most popular dance movement. After the introduction of the song called Look At My Dab everyone began to remake the dance moves that seem like a strong sneeze. This dance movement was especially loved by American football star Camas Newton and he demonstrated his dancing abilities each time after earned points during a match.

In My Feelings

Well-known rapper Drake should also be blamed for one dancing flow. In 2018, the Canadian superstar released the song In My Feelings. Inspired by this song, the comedian Shiggy started a new dancing wave on Instagram. He made a video how he performs dance movements based on this song. Other social networking influencers created similar videos soon and it became another trend.
